Team SVARAM
We are a growing local/global community of sound enthusiasts, artisans, designers, artists, healers, researchers, trainees and associates.
Initiated in 2003 as a grassroots community, rural development project in Tamil Nadu, SVARAM has been recognised by the UN Initiative “Music as a Global Resource” as one of its first 50 projects worldwide. The open association and team of over 85 local artisans, trainees, international volunteers and professionals has always retained its emphasis on the human element, its heritage and prospect of evolutionary change and positive progress.

Svaram Sound Friends
Being an integral part of the futuristic international community project of Aurovillle, SVARAM has a far reaching field of resonances and connections around the globe and we are proud of our global community of friends, sound lovers, associates, volunteers, students, alumni, mentors and supporters.
Participate, co-create, come and visit, experience the rich learning field, help to build wholesome ‘sound bridges’ across the continents and cultures for a more harmonious and musical world!
Early Days
Initially focusing on communication-social-and craft-skill trainings with the practical core of hands on work with different materials like wood, metals, clay, bamboo and seeds/shells for instrument building, extensive explorations and a communal discovery process on the ‘magic of sound’ stimulated the growth of the team in ever unfolding and often surprising directions, creating a natural enthusiasm in everyone involved for the chosen work with the mystery and magic of sound!
Team Members
As in a musical composition from the seven notes evolve many melodies, the original core team of 7 grew over the years in many ways and is currently a composition of more than 85 diverse personas and their gifts, skills, characters – all adding their part and playing in the symphony of the SVARAM Sound Experience.
