Since 20 years SVARAM Faculty and its Auroville Network of Resource People have offered a large variety of thematic workshops seasonally, focusing on specific sonic skills, training playful explorations and discovery-learning processes.
Each of these workshops can contribute to the gathering of learning credits towards certification requirements, and certainly enhances the learner’s and practitioner’s tools for sound artistic and healing work.

Online Sonic Perspectives Over the last years we have offered a 3 months online forum for classes and presentations of international experts and practitioners of sound work. From 2026 we will create a new edition with subject specific days and more comprehensive, hands-on musical and sound healing skill-oriented sessions.
The Magic of Rhythm Tomasso, from Napoli, our exceptional and versatile percussionist of various traditions is passionate about sharing his skills and offers concentrated and fun filled workshops from 1 – 5 sessions per weekend. He is an energetic teacher, playful yet very precise (due to his years of professional performances), focusing on authentic experience of pulse, patterns, cycles, dynamics and textures to weave a unique rhythm language – no matter if for the beginner or an accomplished musician – there is always a personal note to the magic of music. He also conducts our very popular Drum Circle for visiting groups with customised settings.
Himalayan Bowls Riccardo, a young professional music producer, who has traveled the world with his e-dance music, before his focus shifted to Sound Healing with Himalayan Bowls, Sound Stones, now doing research and working on composition for Vibroacoustic devices, is an excellent teacher bringing together cognitive understanding and an intuitive approach. His classes on the Himalayan Bowls and their use are appreciated by all students and equip the participants not only with the basic knowledge but also with immediate applicability of the shared methods.
The Art of Gong While the Gong is such an easily accessible instrument, it certainly takes know-how and extra sensitivity to learn the Art of Gongplay, especially if it wants to be applied in healing modalities. Experienced gong players and international sound healers offer seasonal workshops that convey the principles of the gong and its far reaching sound and offer ample space for practice and skill acquisition.
The Singing Voice The uncovering and freeing of the singing voice is fundamental for essential self practice for sound healers, helping for tuning in, body awareness, alignment, deepening perception and creative self-expression. We have some very experienced voice teachers, professional singers and improvisation artists in our faculty and conduct once a year a Vocal Immersion Week and seasonal day and weekend workshops.
Song Catching From a key word, simple phrase, a sentence, an intense emotion, an image or inspiration the process of ‘catching a song’ is a rewarding adventure of discovering one’s inherent capacity of deeper receptivity and the power of formulating and anchoring an authentic songline. What a wonderful experience to offer oneself as a channel, an instrument for the creative force to flow through and to manifest a genuine song. Varun is an expert in this art and is always happy to share this gift of song catching with aspiring vocal explorers.
Sound and Bodywork As the one on one soundwork with clients deepens, there evolves a need to understand more of body’s functioning and sensibilities. We do have some exceptional body workers in Auroville of diverse methodologies, and while the ‘art of touch’ is an integral part of our training, basic holding techniques and cranio-sacral work can enhance the effectiveness of healing sessions. Joseph and others are experts in their field and offer seasonal classes focused on transmission of these specialized skills.
Aromatherapy, Energy Work and Sound With the deepening of the Sound Healing work, especially when it is conducted in more intimate , one on one settings, there arises the need and curiosity to learn about the definition, fundamentals, background and applications of ‘energy’ in the context of therapeutic sessions. With her rich and deep experience of many years Rupal has a way to convey the complexity in simple ways and is also an expert of Aromatherapy and its versatile applications, specifically as an etheric companion discipline for the work with sound.
The Nervous System The actual impact of sound waves on the physical/emotional and intellectual organism finds a key element in the human nervous system and its complex structure and workings. Consequently a professional sound practitioner needs to have an understanding of the basic physio- and psychological and energetic functionings of the organism and specifically the parts and interplay of the central and autonomous nervous system. Lucas and accomplished healer and adept in energy work offers a simple yet deep approach into this world which certainly will contribute valuable insights for any learner of the healing arts.
Physics of Sound As many Sound Healers nowadays also have a need to understand the physical parameters and functioning of sound, to understand its possible impact, Riccardo is ready to conduct a focused workshop on the subject. He brings years of experience from electronic music production, which is helpful in sharing his skills for those who are experimenting with integrating electronic sounds, drones and recorded soundscapes in their work. This session can give a first exposure and good overview to the keen learner.
